After we finished class in the morning we headed to a nearby soccer court where it was Honduras vs. Guatemala. While the boys played soccer, the girls sat inside and played Scrabble....first in Spanish then in English.
Pastor Nelson took us to see some special things in his city.
We went to a park that was up up up and then up some more on a mountain. It was beautiful to see the whole city.
From the ground...we were at the top of that mountain.
Next we headed to the Central Park. They have some beautiful buildings!
Many people are gathering at the park, it is Good Friday and there will be a procession coming by soon.
Many people dress in traditional Guatemala clothing. These three girls were thrilled to take a picture with each of us. One of the girls, Elizabeth, came and found us later that night and gave Silvia her email address so they could talk. Such sweet girls.
Here was a sweet family....grandmother, mother, and child.
Love the pig, drinking a beer
The procession is coming by. I learned that this procession would continue through the city and reach its final destination at 3:00 a.m.
With my "son" Pastor Joel
Photo time!
After leaving the Park, we got back to the church where they were busy cooking for our dinner.
They blessed us by serving a traditional Honduran meal. It was so good! We had all kinds of meat cooked on the grill, and red beans, avocado, cheese, and tortillas.
This was such a sweet family! Edgar works with Pastor Nelson at the church. We had so much fun with him, as he learned some new English words. He kept us laughing! The best was the night I taught him snot....we laughed so hard! And his sweet wife is who bought me some socks because I was freezing and had forgotten to pack socks.
The pastors from Guatemala and the pastors from Honduras.
